基弗近作及细节
被浇满了铅的画布，斑驳的裂缝，厚重的色彩肆意的颜料飞洒，基弗快73岁了，仍是一块坚硬的滚动着的石头！
基弗的作品是由记忆沉淀的想法驱动的，自由粒子停止移动以形成紧凑的团簇——在作品中，而时间则消磨在其中。要理解这一点，或许也许我们应该记住的是，艺术家出生于1945年。战争留下的毁灭痕迹影响着基弗的职业生涯。
基弗的日记中写道：“昨天倒了铅。在几幅你不想再看到的旧画作上。与以往不同，没有愤怒，没有绝望，你将这些画平放在地板上，然后将灼热的铅倒在上面。不再是由绝望驱使，因为你知道，总会有一个结果，失败也在计划之内。如果毁坏画作的行为是因为愤怒而非刻意计算而行，结果会有什么不同？铅流动方式会有什么不同？”

基弗写：“这一厚厚的铅层不可能从画布上脱落，颜料未干之时，如伤口化脓从滚烫的铅中溢出。几年前所作的画上，田地的小麦秆在凝固的铅层中看起来就像被烧焦的残余物 – 所有这些让我想起了波德莱尔的诗歌。”
