piles dance towards ground,

under the shadow.

As winds gently blow,

we open the window,

柔风渐起，推开净窗，

to enjoy coming Autumn close.

以拉近即至的秋芳。

Have you noticed that,

there is a letter,

可曾留心，一封信的渐临，

gradually turning up,

which is received by us?

It seems to be several falling nuts,

那似是偶然坠下的果实，

the temperature that cuts.

又忽如骤降的气温。

Also in Suzhou High School,

在千年府学，

it might be waves in the pool,

它又似是碧霞春雨中的波澜，

or clothes worn made of wool.

亦或是人们身着的絮棉。

Sometimes you probably realize,

something different comes into eyes.

Wander on the avenue in autumn in school,

Strolling in the senior high

Beginning with tears around column,

A downpour kicked off the curtain of autumn.

As the gale erased the memory of summer,

Something newborn replaced the charmer.

Looked down to see the hill and lakes

where the ancestor once saw it,

The autumn leaf flies in the clear, blue sky

Silently it lands,

on the land it has seen a thousand times.

Caught by a girl’s eye,

Hail, my dearest and time-honored confidant true, 

No different than the years of yore, though 

So fresh, so fair, our days bear new faces, 

Yet bid adieu to familiar visages.

Upon the leaves like shards of gold, glistening, 

Amidst the grass so ceaseless, I stride on, 

In this world of shifting tides and shadows deep, 

Thou seemeth to emanate from a thousand years past in a dream of yore.

踩着碎金般的灿烂黄叶

还有生生不息的无情芳草

在这日新月异的世界里

你仿佛来自千年前的梦中

With the morn, awakened art thou to books's song, 

Engulfed by ancient Wu sayings of the town; thou shall rest, 

Enfolded in the enlightened wisdom of books, 

Embraced in the timeless flow of heaven's fragrant rain, 

Boundless, the verdant pine stands tall and free.

你伴着清晨的朗朗书声醒来

在古城的吴侬软语里睡去

怀着天雨流芳的慈爱

长植苍翠无顶的青松

Hail to thee, my revered, age-honored friend, 

The courtyard now bears myriad faces and distinctions, 

Yet unchanged are scrolls and blooms of fiery hue, 

Year after year, through seasons and through days, 

Toward leaves, butterflies, mirrored flow, the winds whisper.

你好呀，我的老朋友

庭院如今已大不相同

不变唯有那书香和烟火

与我岁岁年年，

吹向叶蝶水镜的风

White mist rose after tranquil rain,

Played in an old movie curtain.

Olive waterproof jacket and high galosh,

Silhouette froze at the end.

Above the dim gas lantern in maple niche,

As cyan rendezvouses with twilight sky,

And via a ticking needle of silver watch

——Autumn is arriving tonight.

群雾雨后静，

千年幕中景。

黛衫敞阔，

翦影凝于末。

枫龛苍岩上，

青与昏天交。

因银表声滴答，

——今夕秋至。
