It’s a Happy Halloween at KIK

Don’t’ get too scared by all cool activities happening at KIK this month.

It is a great time be outside, dancing, dressing up, eating candy and running with the kids.

Take time enjoy all the special Halloween tricks and treats the kids did in the classroom.

October world class event A1

This month world class event was all about Halloween. The kids came to kindergarten dressed up with their costumes and we did PAT program.

In the first part of the program the parents saw their kids perform “English show time” where they demonstrated their morning dance routine. We closed the show with the “hokey poky” dance and the parents took a very active part in it!!

Afterwards the kids made “trick or treat” buckets together with their parents so later on the kids can collect some candies in their trick or treat tour. In order to make it more interesting, we painted children’s faces with special face colors.

The highlight of this world class event was the trick or treat tour when the kids walked around the offices area to collect some candies, all dressed up, face painted and holding the “trick or treat” buckets they have made.

The activity was fun and tasty and the parents had a chance to see in real time how their kids performing by the direction that is giving in English songs.

October World Class Event

This month for B1 and B2 classes we had many activities related to Halloween.

We made spider crafts together using paper plates and adding tube cleaner for the eight legs. The kids enjoyed decorating the spiders. Some kids used finger paints, other kids wanted to colour the spiders with crayons, and in B2 the children stuck bits of black paper to cover the plates for the body.

We played many Halloween games together too. The children had a lot of fun playing Halloween bowling using an orange with a jack ‘o’ lantern drawn on the front, knocking down the ghosts and counting their score.

We also played Bingo with Halloween vocabulary, shared lollipops and learned many new songs. The children performed Knock, knock trick or treat for their parents and dressed up in fancy dress.

Earlier this month we made some hand print art crafts by painting the kids’ hands white and printing their hands on black paper. When the paint dried we drew on little ghost faces.

Halloween Spirit brought joy and enthusiasm between students, sharing the Western tradition of making Jack O’Lanterns with parents’ and teachers’ help.

A jack-o'-lantern (or jack o'lantern) is a carved pumpkin or turnip lantern, associated with the holiday of Halloween and named after the phenomenon of a strange light flickering over peat bogs, called will-o'-the-wisp or jack-o'-lantern.

The practice of decorating “jack-o’-lanterns”—the name comes from an Irish folktale about a man named Stingy Jack—originated in Ireland, where large turnips and potatoes served as an early canvas. Irish immigrants brought the tradition to America, home of the pumpkin, and it became an integral part of Halloween festivities.

Pumpkin decorating in D1 classroom

I want to give big thank you to Colin and Mandy mommies for taking time to come and play with us in D1. This year I give the kids the opportunity to vote on how we decorate the pumpkins.  The kids deicided on a Pig Pumpkin and House Pumpkin. And we divided the kids into two teams. The day before the activity kids gathered up all the supplies needed to complete the design. Mommies and kids did a great job at decorating the pumpkin together. Take the time and walk by D1 classroom to see the Pig Pumpkin and the House Pumpkin

October world class event D2

October theme was Halloween and the kids have learned about different kinds of candies. They learned the difference between healthy candy like fruits and unhealthy candy like lollipops, ice cream and chocolate. The kids understand that it is ok to eat some unhealthy candies in small amounts and not on a daily base.

In this month world class event, we made chocolate balls. first, we learned in class the ingredients names and about the process to make the chocolate balls, afterwards we went to the kitchen. The kids finally saw the ingredients in real time in front of their eyes and they were asked to identify them by names.

The chocolate balls came out sweet and delicious and we couldn’t do it without the help of Alans, Queenas and Stevens moms – thank you so much , we appreciate it and enjoy it.

October is Halloween month and for C3 and D3 classes, we decided to make a scary snack: WITCH FINGERS!  We made the fingers using bread, peanut butter and jelly.  All the kids were very excited to make them, and really took their time to make their treat look like a real finger.  We all had fun making the spooky snacks and even more fun eating! Happy Halloween!
