Brain&Body Game Show

Here at KIK, we’re always looking for ways to provide opportunities for our learners to step out of their comfort zone and experience something new and exciting. And our “Brain & Body” Game Show was a perfect example of a fun and challenging event that tested our learners’ mental and physical prowess.
在凯星，我们一直在寻找既可以让孩子们跳出舒适圈又可以让他们有不同体验的学习方法，“Brain&Body”Game Show就是一个融合性非常好的方法，同时挑战孩子们的头脑和体能。
Combining elements of a traditional quiz show and a typical obstacle course that involves jumping from hoop to hoop, our “Brain & Body” Game Show was designed to challenge our learners’ ability to understand quick-fire, English questions, come up with accurate answers quickly, and jump as far as they could.
我们的 “Brain & Body” Game Show 结合了传统问答游戏的元素和典型的障碍赛跑模式，让孩子们挑战快速回答英文问题的同时发挥出他们的跳跃的能力。
To give our younger kids a learning experience, apart from the more “serious” version of the game for D level and above kids, we also put together a similar but easier version of the event for C level kids. The idea was to allow our C level learners to gain some experience early on so they’d be in a better position to participate in any future activity of a similar nature whey they’re older.
为了让孩子获得更好的活动体验，我们除了为D年级孩子提供相对较为“严肃”的题目之外，也特别针对C年级设计了较为简单的版本，可以让C年级的孩子们提前获得一些经验，以便他们到D年级时能够更好的参加类似的挑战活动。
Getting ready

Since the event required the contestants to think on their feet and react instantly, there was no question bank to study ahead of time. However, in the lead-up to the event, our teachers did drills with the kids by asking short, random questions about various topics to hone their reflexes. They also made sure to practice long jump so they’d have an edge over their opponents during the competition.
由于这项活动要求选手们反应迅速，反应敏捷，所以我们没有提前让孩子学习的题库。在活动开始之前，我们的老师和孩子们一起做了简单的练习，通过问一些关于各种主题的简短、随机的问题来磨练他们的反应能力。孩子们也在努力练习跳远，这样他们在比赛中就会比对手有优势。
As the event loomed closer, the kids formed their own teams and were all equally nervous and excited about the upcoming game. As they awaited eagerly in anticipation, their teachers reiterated the importance of sportsmanship, fair play, teamwork, and team spirit.
随着比赛的临近，孩子们组成了自己的队伍，对即将到来的比赛感到紧张和兴奋。在他们热切期待的等待中，老师们也反复强调体育精神、公平竞争、团队合作和团队精神的重要性。
The competition itself was very straightforward and easy to understand – in each round, two teams would battle one another, each sending on one player to compete in one-on-one face-offs. To earn a point for their team, a player would try to be the first to answer a question correctly to progress along an obstacle course made up of hoops. No limit was set on how far they would be allowed to jump, so the players had to find a balance between making safe but slow small jumps and quick but risky big jumps. The only rule that mattered when it comes to jumping was – land perfectly in a hoop or you’d have go back. And that created some very interesting dynamics as players employed different tactics.

Most questions weren’t particularly difficult per se, but they did test our learners’ ability to react instantaneously, stay composed under pressure, and think outside the box. Questions like “what food is purple?” and “name an animal with two legs” may seem simple initially, but in a high stakes situation where mere split seconds could decide if you win or lose, everything suddenly becomes a lot more challenging.

In groups of 5 or 6 members, the teams faced one another in fiercely intense and exhilarating rounds, demonstrating extraordinary composure, quick wits, and simply staggering jumping skills. A lot of the teams also showed genuine togetherness and camaraderie as they cheered their teammates on whether they were winning or losing. To most, that aspect of the game was far more meaningful than anything else.
每组5人或6人组成，在激烈而令人兴奋的回合中相互对抗，展示出非凡的镇定、敏捷的智慧和惊人的跳跃技巧。许多队伍也表现出了真正的团结和同学情谊，无论他们是赢是输，他们都为队友加油。对大多数人来说，友情比输赢更加重要。
Unfortunately for some, the nature of a tournament dictated that certain teams had to be knocked out, but the teams that didn’t make it to the final rounds ought to proud of their dedication and effort.

In the C level rounds, the final ended up as a civil war of sorts as both teams from C2 knocked out the C1 teams in the semi-finals to face off against their classmates as one of the teams emerged victorious. As for the older kids, after several enthralling and truly nerve-recking rounds, Team V for Victory from D1 defeated Team Panda Cubs from PBL class in the final, living up to their name.
在C年级的比赛中，决赛以一场内战结束，而自C2的两支队伍在半决赛中都淘汰了C1队，并与他们的同学进行了比赛，其中一支队伍取得了胜利。对于大孩子们来说，经过几轮扣人心魄的比赛，来自D1班的胜利队在决赛中击败了来自PBL班的熊猫队，正如他们的队名一样，取得了最后的胜利。
Amidst the celebrations and lingering excitement after the event, we find ourselves reflecting upon the meaning of events such as this “Brain & Body” Game Show. Ultimately, we believe that - putting victories and prizes aside - the hope is that what our learners really got from the competition was a chance to show their strength and character, another piece of memory from their days at KIK, and of course, plenty of excitement and fun.
在活动结束后的庆祝和挥之不去的兴奋中，我们发现自己在反思像“大脑与身体”游戏秀这样的活动的意义。最终，我们相信，撇开胜利和奖品不谈，我们希望我们的学生真正从比赛中得到的是一个展示他们的力量和个性的机会，是他们在KIK的另一段回忆，当然，还有很多兴奋和乐趣。
