It’s springtime! As the weather gets warmer, flowers begin to bloom again. What better way to represent this beautiful and colorful season than to create our own flowers out of paper and straws! Our A-level classes did this by decorating the precut flowers out of assorted colors of construction paper. Squeezing the glitter glue out of the tube and trying to hold the oil pastels right as they attempted to draw shapes on the petals were sure ways to develop those little ones’ fine motor skills. After decorating the flower petals, we inserted a green plastic straw through a small hole at its center. This served as the stem of the flower. Finally, we gathered all of our beautifully-crafted flowers and placed them together in a vase to make a wonderful bouquet. It’s a lovely reminder for us that spring is finally here.
It's spring again! A perfect time to enjoy the sunshine and play outside, but also to take care of your health. That's why last Monday we learned how to make sandwiches! Teaching kids to prepare their own food is as important as teaching them life skills like taking showers or doing their shopping. It teaches them to make healthy choices. It also shows them that preparing a healthy snack is actually a better and faster option than eating fast food or candies. On Monday, at first I showed them the components that make up a sandwich – bread, butter, lettuce, cheese, ham, tomatoes and cucumbers. Of course, if you decide to make sandwiches at home, you might add more things that you like – more veggies will make you sandwich even more colorful! Every student had to ask for the components that they needed in English: "Can I have some...?". Step by step, we managed to make (and eat) more than twenty delicious sandwiches! Next time you get hungry, you can ask your kids to make sandwiches for you. Or even better – your kids can teach you how to make them and you can prepare a healthy meal together!
Well, spring is finally here! After a long, cold winter, flowers are starting to bloom, and they need water to grow. I wanted to show the kids of B3 how flowers can drink water by placing cut flowers in colored water. We used white carnations to really show how the flowers will change color as they suck up the colored water. The next day, all the flowers had changed from white to blue, green, red, and purple! The kids really enjoyed the activity!
Spring is here! C-1 class started spring activities with a pop. All the kid’s handmade their own bubble wand in class. We went outside to test them by making bubbles. Rachel and Copper mommies came assisted the kids by playing bubble games and blowing big bubbles for the children. Mr. Lee made giant bubbles with his special magical bubble wand. The C-1 class had so much fun doing this activate I promise we will do again this summer. Thanks so much to our mommies taking the time to come play at KIK for the day. I am looking forward to next month having more mommies and daddies join in the fun at KIK C-1 Classroom.
Spring is here! It is finally time to go outside and play and enjoy the warm weather together. What better way to celebrate than making soap bubbles! We made everything by ourselves, using popsicle sticks and a wire, and we even made our bubble soap from raw material, brought by our kids’ parents.
We made small bubbles and big bubbles, round bubbles and many other shapes.
Spring gave us another chance to play together and show our creativity, helping us develop our ability in working on raw material to build our own toys.
Welcome Spring!
Spring is here and birds are returning home after a cold winter. We wanted to give them a nice welcome home gift by giving them a little snack! So we made some bird feeders and placed them in trees around campus. Every group table worked together as a team to construct their feeder. The activity was a little messy, with peanut butter and bird seed, but I think the kids really had a great time!
