In kik's world class event this month, we conducted English day and English drama activities.English day was to help the students use and practice their English abilities.And the drama can let the children learn English more vividly, at the same time, understand some truth.
1.Submerging speaking environment
English Day at KIK. All activities for the whole day were to be conducted in English; from the Morning greetings at the gate to the final farewells at the end of the day was to be all in English. Both teachers and students need to remind each other to speak English at all times. It could be challenging at first. After a while, children start to use body language to express themselves and it is so fun to see language can be in multiple forms.
2.English drama
"Little Red Riding Hood"
The day would conclude with an English play about stranger danger and what students should do to be safe. Little Red Riding Hood was a great story to highlight to the students what could happen to you if you talk to strangers without your parents there to keep you safe.
Opening interaction between teacher and child.
Q: “What 3 things did Red’s mother tell her not to do?”
A: “Not to talk to strangers, don’t dilly-dally and not to leave the path.”
During the performance three questions and children's answers.
Q: “How did the wolf trick red?”
A: “Red told the wolf where she lived.”
Q:“What happened to Granny and Red because Red didn't listen?”
A: “The wolf ate Granny and Little Red.”
The teachers' wonderful performances, vivid plots, and the children were deeply attracted by the characters who emerged from the fairy tale books.
The story of little Red Riding Hood Sends a powerful lesson about being careful when a stranger approaches us and what we should do. Never talk to stangers and to those who are pretending to know us or our family. Never tell a stranger where you live. Never approach strangers without your parents with you. Don't be afraid of everyone you see, but becareful of those who might trick you or offer you candy or other gifts. Never go places alone, always have your mother or father with you.
