Event Brief
On April 23, USDA Foreign Agricultural Service and American Hardwood Export Council,in collaboration with Zhongshixue (Beijing) Interior Architecture Design Communication Center, will host a workshop on “Environment, Design Arts, and Wood”in The St. Regis Beijing. Invited experts and renowned American architects and interior designers will brief new concepts on environmental sustainability and green materials; share their design ideas that may enhance contemporary living environment in ways of wellness, comfort, elegance, sustainability; and exchange with their contemporary interior and wooden furniture design cases study.

Christopher Bielecki是美国驻华大使馆农贸处副主任，负责指导农业营销项目，制定促进美国对华农产品出口的战略，并为美国政府高级官员提供专家政策指导。Christopher拥有德克萨斯A&M大学农业领导学、教育学和传播学的硕士和博士学位。在校期间，他发起了多项国际农业研究项目，在危地马拉、加纳、秘鲁和埃塞俄比亚等国进行监测和评估。他的研究兴趣集中在更好地理解气候变化对新兴市场的农业生产和可持续发展的影响。
ChristopherBielecki is the Deputy Director of the U.S. Department of Agriculture’s ForeignAgricultural Service, Agricultural Trade Office in Beijing. He is responsiblefor directing agricultural marketing programs, developing strategies thatpromote U.S. agricultural exports to China, and providing expert policyguidance to senior U.S. government officials. Christopher has a masters and PhDfrom Texas A&M University, where he developed international agriculturalresearch programs, conducted monitoring & evaluation research, and ledcapacity building programs in Guatemala, Ghana, Peru, and Ethiopia. Hisresearch interests focus on better understanding how climate change affectagricultural producer behavior and sustainability outcomes in emerging markets.
Criswell Davis

Criswell Davis在美国的硬木行业工作了30多年，在这个行业的各个环节都有工作过，其中22年是在美国一家大型锯木厂和窑炉干燥厂工作，向超过6000名建筑师、设计师、专家和建筑专业的学生做过演讲，也为世界上一些较大的建筑和设计公司提供建议，在美国和海外帮助指导美国硬木的应用。本次活动中Criswell的演讲主题为“可持续的美国硬木设计”。
Criswell Davis has been in the American hardwood industry for over30 years at all levels of the industry, including 22 years working with a largeAmerican sawmill and kiln drying facility. He has presented to over 6,000architects, designers, specifiers and architecture students. He advises some ofthe largest architecture and design firms in the world, helping to guide theprocess of specifying and procuring American hardwoods for projects in the USand overseas. He’s presentation titled is “Sustainable American Hardwoods in Design”

中央美术学院建筑学院副教授，建筑营设计工作室创始人。主张在设计实践中细心的阅读每一个具体项目特殊的需求和限制，不断突破和挑战限制的边界，持续的深化从概念到建造细节的全过程，转化内与外、新与旧、人工与自然之间的关系，让空间成为人与人、人与环境交流的媒介，创造新的宜居生活。主要作品包括曲廊院、水岸佛堂、唐山有机农场等。作品曾获archdaily全球年度建筑奖，LEAF欧洲杰出建筑奖，美国室内设计年度设计奖，台湾TID室内设计金奖等。作品获邀参加哈佛当代中国建筑展，韩国光州设计双年展，UED十年百名建筑师展等。
Wenqiang Han，the Associate Professor of Architecture School of CAFA (Central Academy of Fine Arts) and the Founder of ARCHSTUDIO. He advocates to carefully read the particular requirements and constraints of every specific project during the design practice, constantly breakthrough and challenge limitations, and continuously deepen the whole process from concept to construction details as well as transform the relationship between the inside and the outside, the old and the new, the artificial and the natural. He devotes to making the space to be the communication medium between people and people, people and environment, so as to create a livable life. His major projects include Tea House in Hutong, Waterside Buddist Shrine, Organic Farm, etc. His works has won Building of The Year by Archdaily, LEAF Awards, Interior Design’s Best of Year Awards, Taiwan Interior Design Gold Award, etc. His works have been invited to participate different exhibitions, such as Contemporary Architecture in China, Harvard, The Gwangju Design Biennale in South Korea, 10x100 - An Exhibition of 100 Architects for the 10th Anniversary of UED, etc.

张时中女士于2003年加入Gensler，先后在美国和中国上海及北京分部工作，现任北京室内设计总监。张女士设计范围广泛，包括商业、住宅、公司、政府及科学技术等多方面的项目经验，在进行不同类别的大型复杂项目方面的设计处理能力尤其突出。张女士在总体规划、建筑设计、室内设计、绿色可持续设计方面都具备专业知识和经验，综合各种实践类别、项目规模和市场类别，张女士将带领Gensler北京室内设计团全方位把握项目方向，同时从多角度着手处理为设计带来创新能力。
Emma Chang hasbeen with Gensler for over 14 years. She worked with Gensler in the US as wellas in China and has experience in commercial, residential, corporate,government, health, and technology design projects. She brings an excellentcapability in designing a variety of large and complex projects. Emma has aknowledge and experience in master planning, architecture design, interiordesign, landscape, and graphic design. Now she is the Interior Design Directorin Beijing Office, taking care of interior design projects andleading product design practice in Asia.
