make a killing 是个常用的美式俚语
意思是：发大财，赚大钱
例：
I often hear someone make a killing in Las Vegas.
我经常听人说有人在拉斯维加斯发了一笔横财。
不同于美国人
英国人喜欢用make a bomb来表达赚大钱
例：
I could make a bomb selling these cupcakes.
卖这些纸杯蛋糕，我可以赚一大笔钱！

to succeed in achieving two things in a single action
