Does coaching bring benefit to expatriates in China?
This a question rather than a promotion of a coaching service, and we are searching for participants to help in a University of East London, UEL, MSc. research project to find the answer.
Coaching is widely used in many organisations, as a development process, for the leadership roles at all levels of executive, senior and junior management, the professional coach being either internal or external. However, there is little research into benefits for expatriates specifically, and this becomes even less when considering expatriates in China.
Assignments in China are generally memorable, rewarding, and successful, mainly due to the personal learning, increased self-awareness, and experiences gained by working in a non-Western culture. Coaching should support well the assignment experience but until now there is little or no academic literature to be found, hence this research project.
So, if you are a Western expatriate in China on assignment, and are receiving coaching, or have had coaching in the past during assignment in China then we would appreciate that you consider to take part in a 45-60 minute interview to contribute towards the research.
