WinRAR CEO将出席TechCrunch国际创新峰会<北京站>
聚焦移动互联网时代的发展与中国市场正版化策略
We are excited to announce that WinRAR Limited CEO Burak Canboy will attend the TechCrunch International Innovation Summit Beijing Station, scheduled to be held in Beijing on August 11-12. As a guest speaker, he will deliver a speech on stage.
WinRAR is a well-known software program worldwide, especially popular in China, and surpasses Winzip in terms of popularity. In the era of mobile internet, how should WinRAR develop? How did it reclaim its Chinese market from rampant piracy? These issues are what we are particularly concerned about, and Burak Canboy will address them directly at the event.
Canboy founded WinRAR Limited in February 2002, focusing on the development of WinRAR, a compression software celebrated for its higher compression rate compared with Winzip. Its foundation was laid by RAR and UNRAR—originally command-line compression and decompression tools developed by Eugene Roshal in 1993, and later distributed initially by Alexander Roshal in 1995. Currently, Eugene still works at WinRAR as an architect and developer.
According to Burak Canboy, while the largest markets based on downloads are the US and EU, WinRAR has become one of the most commonly used software among Windows users across Eastern Europe, Russia, North Africa, China, Asia, and parts of South America due to its availability in more than 50 languages and support for non-Latin scripts.
The Shenzhen-based company Softjia Information Co., Ltd., established in 2005, is the official distributor of WinRAR in China. It represents over 300 international vendors offering more than 5000 software solutions including WinRAR and MindManager, emphasizing products that hold top positions in their niche industries and have broad user bases. To expedite efforts toward full software legalization, Softjia employs legal consultants specialized in intellectual property rights and has pursued legal action against companies imitating U.S. products.
Furthermore, there's more to WinRAR’s connection with China. Back in May 2010, Burak Canboy visited the Shenzhen-based software company Wondershare and formed a collaborative partnership, enabling him to distribute Wondershare's products in Germany.
