Rhenus Project Logistics (China) team transported a set of 140 tons transformer from China to Singapore, once proving again their strong capacity and expertise in specialized project shipments.
The project became complicated due to the many challenges caused by the various restrictions in both China and Singapore during the heights of the Covid-19 period, particularly with blank sailings and inflated freight costs. However, utilizing their global expertise, they planned a tailored solution that met the client’s budget and overall requirements.
As most of the heavy lift vessels (HLV) required to transport the massive transformers were cancelled at the South China ports in this period, and the main body of the equipment was too large to transport by road from Zhongshan to Shanghai, the team devised an alternate plan. The cargo was instead transported from a suitable terminal in Guangzhou to Shanghai by inland vessel, to be then shipped to its final destination - Singapore. The team supervised the whole stowage plan, lashing and loading process to ensure the cargo was handled properly, including installing an oversized impact recorder to ascertain that the carrier strictly complied with the transportation requirements of the client.
Despite the obvious hindrances, the project was completed in the scheduled time and budget. Rhenus China admires the endeavors from the team for doing such excellent job!
