Rhenus China partnered with COSCO Shipping Project Logistics, Ltd. to successfully transport the first batch of light-rail trains from China to Turkey. The trains will be used for the construction of Istanbul metro network and its new airport line subway project in the city.
The extreme importance of the project meant that Rhenus paid utmost attention to every detail to ensure smooth and timely progress. During the covid-19 pandemic, terminal supervision was stricter than usual, hence it was difficult for client to supervise at site in person. Rhenus team took the initiative to go to the port every day and personally oversaw the shipment, meanwhile maintaining close communication with shipper and customer to ensure that the goods set sail on time.
Rhenus utilized its global networks and good relations with major carriers to find the most suitable shipping schedule and arrival time in the shortest time, ultimately winning the trust of the customer.

The ongoing project will last for two and a half years, and 400 metro trains with a total of 100,000 cbm will be shipped to Turkey in batches. Cheers to all the project participants, this is another successful cooperation between Rhenus and COSCO Shipping.
