A. Cosco Shipping will launch a new weekly ESE2 service from this September, linking North Europe and the Mediterranean with South America’s East Coast. The transit time for ESE2 will be only 12 days from Algeciralas (Spain) to Santos (Brazil). ESE2 fully covers the South America East region, spreading more effectively to markets such as Brazil, Argentina, Uruguay, Santos, Rio de Janeiro, Paranagua, Itapoa, and other major ports in Plata. B. Transpacific container rates rose again as the Shanghai Containerized Freight Index (SCFI) closed on 14 July due to congestion on the US West Coast caused by a Canadian dockers' strike. Rates between Asia and the US East Coast and West Coast increased by 26% and 12% respectively, from 7 July. C. To further consolidate economic ties between India and the UAE, both countries agreed to start transacting exports/imports in their own currencies, the rupee and dirham, instead of dollar payments generally done through the SWIFT network. Exporters and importers between India and the UAE will no longer have to worry about hedging against the dollar, resulting in more streamlined and cost-effective trade transactions. A. Qatar Airways Cargo has streamlined its Next Generation Fresh process for perishable shipments, ranging from fruits or vegetables to seafood or flowers. The process includes three sub-categories: Fresh Care, Fresh Passive, and Fresh Advanced, which adhere to industry-specific standards, with the utmost attention given to product-relevant temperatures, handling, transportation, storage and hygiene. An in-depth IATA CEIV certification process has validated Qatar Airways Cargo’s perishables expertise and resulted in IATA CEIV Fresh accreditation. (Source: AirCargoWeeks)
B. Teleport officially inducted its first Airbus A321 Freighter (A321F) aircraft into its air logistics fleet, featuring 24 containerised positions and a maximum payload of 27 tons. Over 1,500 businesses ‘Teleport’ their goods to over 80 destinations in Southeast Asia, using one digital Airway Bill, and with a guarantee that ‘it arrives tomorrow. With the first A321F based out of Kuala Lumpur, it is the perfect hub as its 5-hour flight range gives it access to over 80 destinations across Southeast Asia and 80 more key cities in Asia Pacific. C. All-cargo carrier Air Incheon has continued its expansion with the addition of freighter flights to Kuala Lumpur. The new five-times-per-week flights were launched on July 11 and utilise a Boeing 737-800 freighter. Air Incheon said the service would also target dangerous goods that cannot be carried in the bellies of passenger aircraft. This new cargo route greatly contributes to the increased export of fresh Korean agricultural products, including popular items like strawberries, which are in high demand in Southeast Asia. D. Amsterdam Airport Schiphol starts development of chain information system to fight cargo theft. Using Secure Import, the ground handler notifies the forwarder when the shipment is ready for collection. The system verifies the correct parties for the specific shipment and informs the ground handler about the collection arrangements. RAIL FREIGHT MARKET NEWS
A. China has launched a new service to link Southeast Asia and Europe in 15 days. The new service will connect the capital of Laos,Vientiane, with Budapest in Hungary via the Chinese southwestern city of Chengdu. For the first time, the China-Laos railway isconnected with the China-Europe Express in a regular rail service. (Source: railfreight.com)
B. Two new intermodal China-Kyrgyzstan-Uzbekistan (CKU) services were launched on 4th July. One originates from Langfang city, nearBeijing, while the other is from Guangzhou city. These two services have the potential to connect Central Asia with two Chineseeconomic zones: the Beijing area and the Guangdong-Hongkong-Macau Greater Bay Area. (Source: railfreight.com)
C. Three options are now on the table for the new China-Russia railway bridge. The bridge will cross the Amur River, connecting Mohein China with Dzhalinda in Russia, providing the Sakha Republic with direct access to China.
