21日，中国驻澳大利亚公使王晰宁在澳全国新闻记者俱乐部（National Press Club）发表演讲。
王晰宁表示：
China is not a cow. I don't think anybody should fancy the idea to milk China when she's in her prime and plot to slaughter it in the end. “中国不是一头奶牛。我认为人们不应该想着在中国正值盛年时挤奶，最终再密谋将其宰割。”
Don’t try to pretend you have the moral high ground. “你们不要试图假装站在道德的制高点上。”
澳方口口声声说希望同中国开展合作，加强高层对话，却说一套做一套，一而再再而三损害双边关系，这次澳方的所作所为再次表明他们对改善中澳关系毫无诚意。我们再次敦促澳方立即撤销错误决定，改弦更张，停止对中澳关系不负责任的言行，停止对两国正常合作交流无端设限，否则中方必将坚决有力回应。
Australia says it hopes to cooperate with China and strengthen high-level dialogue. However, what it did is quite the opposite. The Australian side undermined the bilateral relations time and again. What it did this time is another testimony that Australia lacks the basic sincerity for improving the ties. We urge Australia one more time to revoke the wrong decision and change course immediately, stop irresponsible moves, and avoid imposing groundless restrictions on normal exchanges and cooperation between the two countries. Otherwise, China will resolutely take strong reactions.
