英国《每日电讯报》18日刊登了对英国财政大臣蕾切尔·里夫斯的专访，里夫斯在专访中表示，英国应与中国建立更深层次的伙伴关系，而非设置新的障碍，“中国是世界第二大经济体，我认为不与其接触是非常愚蠢的。这是本届政府的态度。”
Rachel Reeves has said it would be "very foolish" for Britain to disengage from China, in a rejection of Donald Trump's efforts to isolate Beijing.
In an interview with The Telegraph, the chancellor makes the case for a deeper partnership with China rather than erecting new barriers.

The chancellor says: "I think we've probably all been in a taxi in London and they are produced by a Chinese company there. They're produced in Britain, but the owner is a Chinese company. I think that those London electric taxis are a good thing. They're very popular with taxi drivers as well."
里夫斯表示，她今年早些时候赴华参加中英经济财金对话，以提升英国金融服务企业在华运营能力。“这些安排显然符合英国国家利益，我将用这种态度与世界任何国家开展贸易谈判或金融对话。”她说。
"Those sorts of arrangements are clearly in the UK national interest and that's how I will approach trade talks or financial dialogues with any country in the world."
《每日电讯报》写道，这些言论进一步表明，工党政府下定决心要深化与中国的贸易与金融联系，而这正是英国首相斯塔默数月来推动的议程。
里夫斯定于下周赴美参加二十国集团财长会议等一系列会议，并将与美国财政部长斯科特·贝森特会面讨论英美贸易协议。
